Parenting is probably the most important job that one could have. Yet it is the job that we receive the least amount of training for.

That's why The Institute for Family Development is pleased to introduce an exciting new series of courses for parents who are interested in being the most effective parents they can be.

The Positive Effective Parenting Program - PEPP - is the way to "get a grip" on the demands placed upon you as a parent with practical, up-to-the-minute information.

What is PEPP?

As parents, we often find ourselves feeling frustrated that we don't have the type of relationship with our children that we'd like. Remember the dreams and plans you had when you first found out that you were going to be a parent? As most parents discover, the reality is far different from the dream and the difference widens as we become caught up in the daily frustrations of life.

In many ways, PEPP is like a series of "refresher courses" designed to reawaken many of the good parenting instincts that have gotten lost in the struggle of day-today crisis management.

More specifically, PEPP is a series of integrated workshops designed to help parents face the challenge of parenting in today's society.

Utilizing the latest insights gathered from research, PEPP is MORE than just an effective discipline program. PEPP also offers parents the chance to develop an understanding of how their child's mind works so that they cannot only discipline their child, but so that they can nurture their child toward full potential as well.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Positive effective parenting
  • How a child's mind works / dealing with a parent's feelings
  • Putting PEPP into practice
  • Applying PEPP to all ages
  • Sibling rivalry
  • Using PEPP in special circumstances

Advanced Programs

Advanced programs to address special topics such as single parenting, step-families, and parenting children with disabilities are available.
